TIWI multiplier Event

29 January 2020 the multiplier event took place in Bilbao, at the University of Deusto.
17 Teachers from Barcelona, Gijon, Vitoria and Bilbao have participated in this event.
During the workshop teachers have explored TiWI to discover new ways to encourage students (especially those who has a lack of motivation and run the risk of school dropping out) to learn ICT through inquiry work; learned to use the GoLab ecosystem and its new tools to design better ILS with coding activities included; analysed how to address the research part in the classroom with students; discussed the importance and impact pre-test and post-test on the self-assessment tool. The ILSs created by teachers and project partners were used as examples.

The first Transnational Project Meeting took place 10-11 Dec. 2019 at the University of Deusto. The consortium has reorganized and discussed the new work plan. Partners has discussed a strategic execution plan for Intellectual Output 2 (O2), incorporating O1 and O3, and Multiplier Events; impact O2 on local, regional and transnational levels;  plans on quality assurance, evaluation, exploitation, and communication as well as dissemination roadmap; administrative issues – reporting, agreements, content and timetable template, property rights, financial rules and policy. The Project Management Team and Quality Management and Evaluation Group were been settled.

Open Discovery of STEM Laboratories workshop

How to build microMOOC? How to integrate the online laboratory in your curricular? How to
create the engaging online space for your students? These and many other questions 15
secondary school teachers discussed with Iratxe Menchaca during the workshop that was
organized in the premises of the University of Deusto with support of the Berritzegune,
Bilbao. The workshop took place 24 October 2019.
The intellectual outputs and training materials developed for the Erasmus+ ODL project
were used. The ODL is awarded as Project of “Reconocimientos a la Calidad Erasmus+

TIWI: 3 rd Transnational Partner Meetin

21-22 Oct.2019, Deusto Learning Lab hosted the 3 rd Transnational partner meeting, that was
organized in the frame of the TIWI – Teaching ICT with Inquiry (2018-1-LT01-KA201-047065)
Erasmus+ project. During meeting activities performed, such as MOOC and Career Articles in
web and graphic formats were presented. We also discussed and fixed future detailed plan for
2019-2020. The next steps will be Implementation stage and Multiplier event, that will take
place on December 2019 in UDeusto, Bilbao.


“New pedagogical approaches in STEAM education”

September 26-28, 2019, the representative of the Deusto Learning Lab participated in the
conference “New pedagogical approaches in STEAM education” that had been organized
within the framework of the international project MoPED: “Modernization of Pedagogical
Higher Education by Innovative Teaching Instruments” (№ 586098-EPP-1-2017-1 -UA-EPPKA2-
CBHE-JP) of the EU program Erasmus + KA2 Cooperation for Innovation and Good Practices –
Capacity Building in Higher Education in Kyiv, Ukraine.
The encouraging keynote presentations of dr. T. de Jong and dr. J.M. Pawlowski were followed
1-day of the workshops created for school teachers. Olga Dziabenko supported two sets of the
experimental workshops “From traditional lesson to inquiry-based learning”. The school
teachers from different regions of Ukraine had developed competence in designing the inquiry
learning materials promoting innovative educational approaches to STEAM education. The
school teachers, headmasters and curriculum developers also had the opportunity to discuss
how they are implementing shared skills in their schools.

Inter-project Coaching

The member of Deusto Learning Lab, Olga Dziabenko, participated in the ERASMUS + INTER-
PROJECT COACHING. The event took place 25 September, 2019 in the Taras Shevchenko
National University of Kyiv, Ukraine. Moreover, Svitlana Shytikova, Director of NEO Ukraine,
and Kateryna Suprun, representative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine
introduced the policy of the Erasmus+ Programme as well as quality of Higher Education in
Europe and Ukraine. The representatives of the projects MoPED, QUAERE, dComFra had
shared their experiences of the project performance, and discussed how to reach high quality
of the Erasmus+ projects.

Deusto LearningLab participating in the 11th annual International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies (EDULEARN 2019)

Olga Dziabenko and Iratxe Menchaca, two members of the Deusto LearningLab team have been from 1 to 3 July in Palma de Mallorca making several presentations at the 11th annual International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies (EDULEARN 2019).

Among the presentations, there have been successful examples of the OSOS project in Spain, the results of the iDiverSE project and the design of its evaluation protocol, the latest developments of the Go-Lab ecosystem and the ukranian digital education model developed in the framework of the MoPED project.

Encuentros Profesionales Deusto Ingeniería: El rol de la mujer ingeniera como Directora

Ayer, 11 de febrero, día internacional de la mujer y niña en la ciencia, celebramos los Encuentros Profesionales de la mano de ingenieras que nos contaron su experiencia como directoras en el sector científico y tecnológico. Mª Luz Guenaga, junto con otras tres directoras, nos habló sobre el por qué tenemos tan pocas mujeres Directoras en la ciencia y tecnología, presentando así, el proyecto que ella lidera de la mano de su equipo Deusto LearningLab y la Universidad de Deusto, Inspira STEAM. 

INSPIRA STEAM es un proyecto pionero en Euskadi para el fomento de la vocación científico-tecnológica entre las niñas, basado en acciones de sensibilización y orientación, que imparten mujeres profesionales del mundo de la investigación, la ciencia y la tecnología. INSPIRA STEAM nace de la necesidad de promocionar vocaciones científicas y tecnológicas entre el alumnado vasco y de la urgencia de hacerlo entre las niñas. El número de estudiantes que optan por una formación en tecnología decrece cada año. Y si nos referimos al colectivo femenino, los datos se agudizan aún más.

Deusto recibe el premio al mejor proyecto Erasmus+KA201 por Open Discovery of STEM Laboratories

La Universidad de Deusto ha recibido el premio mejor proyecto Erasmus+ KA201 por “Open Discovery of STEM Laboratories”, centrado en diseñar y ofrecer en los colegios un currículo innovador en el ámbito STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

La agencia nacional para la internacionalización de la educación, SEPIE, ha concedido este reconocimiento a la Universidad de Deusto teniendo en cuenta el impacto logrado por el proyecto.
